Fillers

Fillers are solid particulate or fibrous materials incorporated into polymers, coatings, adhesives, and composites to modify physical properties, reduce cost, and enhance performance. Classified as inorganic (calcium carbonate, talc, kaolin, silica, barium sulfate, wollastonite) or organic (carbon black, wood flour, cellulose).

Critical parameters include particle size distribution, surface area, aspect ratio, surface chemistry, and oil absorption value. Applications span plastics compounding, rubber reinforcement, paints, sealants, paper coating, and construction materials.
